About
A publication named for the fear itself.
Technophobia is an independent publication about artificial intelligence, superintelligence, and what both are doing to the rest of us. It is written in English and published at technophobia.si.
The name is the point. Technophobia is usually used as an insult, a way to wave off anyone who hesitates in front of a new machine. This publication takes the hesitation seriously. Fear of technology is often a reasonable reading of who gets to build it, who gets to profit from it, and who gets to absorb its mistakes.
That does not make this a doom blog. The aim is to be clear-eyed: curious about what these systems can do, skeptical of what is claimed for them, and attentive to the people on the receiving end.
What you will find here

- Signals: News from the field, read slowly. Short dispatches and commentary on what actually changed this week.
- Superintelligence: The long horizon: AGI, ASI, risk, alignment and the scenarios worth rehearsing before they arrive.
The image
The front page is a reworking of Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam, painted on the Sistine Chapel ceiling around 1512, with a machine in Adam’s place. Move toward the gap between the two fingers and it charges; click and they touch. It is the question this publication keeps asking: who is creating whom?
